Sounds of the Wooded Land

A hammering of gongs occurred
in rhythms of dee dee dee
composed in the 14th century
winter woodlands when there
was a small run on supplies of
nuts, seeds, and honey in the
land’s only known stock of food.

So in remembrance of that time,
the merciful alarm has rung these
seven centuries every day at dawn
from the wooded land Wheyann
as the wisest have taught the
gentlest to make the sound ring
true of another time, so none
would forget, so none would be lost.
